THE WEATHER.
A good deal of rain has fallen in tlio Wairarapa and Forty-mile Bush during the last two davs. Part of the time a regular gale from the south has been blowing. The rivers aro all considerably swollen, ■ In Wellington slight damage has been dono to some of the shipping, is cold and bleak, "gale, accompanied by heavy rain veering from east to north-west prevailed last night, A good deal of damage waß done to small craft, Reports from Kuipara and Waikato show that thoro is exceptionally heavy weather in those districts. New Plymouth, Friday. A furious gale from the south-east has been blowing since midnight, accompanied with a heavy rainfall. The gale has done a good deal of damage to fencing, chimneys, and trees, Sliutteworth's windmill has been partially wrecked, Tho wind is now abating, but it is still raining,
