MUTINY ON THE HIGH SEAS.

A Me Murdered. (By Telegraph.—Press Association,) Auckland; Tuesday. Arrived, Richmond from Tahiti and Raralonga. She roports a mutiny and murder at 6oa, on tho American barque Vesper, of San Francisco. The barque put into Tahiti on January 27tli| she was hound from Newcastle to Honolulu with coals. Oapt. Sodergren reported that the crew had murdered tho second mato, and that he aud his wife, the chief officer, and steward were in peril of their livoa. The crew were arrested and will bo I sent to San Francisco for trial. Two prisoners turned States evidence. The crew were under the impression that the captain had in his possession a considerable sum of money, and proposed to kill tho captain and offi • cers and get posstßaion of the ship and gold, On January 13th the second mate, Fitzgerald, was decoyed for* ward and killed with the cook's chopper. Tho body was thrown overboard, and tho killing oi the captain and mate put oil', the crow eaying that they had done enough for one night. In the meantime the captain and mato were alarmed, and kept the deck for a fortnight. Tho craw all shipped at Newcastle.

The Richmond reports that there are pro-pects of a good coffee crop in tho Uervey Group, and tho oranges are also doing well. Tho Baratonga missionary, of the London Mission Society, objects to the British residents' action in connection with the Liquor Liws in the Hervey Group.
