TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.
Ordinary Meeting. The ordinary monthly meeting of tho above Board was held on Saturday. Present: Messrs H. R, Runny (Chairman), E.W.Dorsot,o. BraithM S'sf^ l,eu 'James Stevens, and G. W. Dellcr. Tho Treasurer reported the Bank overdraft to be £789 IBs sd. CORKE3PONDENCE' was received from Messrs J, aud R, Miller re fencing road in tho Gladstone Riding, leading through their property-Resolved that tendon be called for the work.
Iron Mr Joe Renall asking the Board to pay into tho Bank of N.Z. £SO for river protection works.-As therd were somo doubts as to whethor tho work was dono, it was resolved to pass tho account to be bold hack till the work has been passed by tho Wardens for No. 8 Ward.
Resolved that tenders bo called for four miles of rocking on the.East Coast road. • From Mr P. Moore, re the way the work is being carried out on tho East Coast road.—As the work is undor tho supervision of Messrs Bremnor and McLaughlan, tho Hoard did not consider they wero justified in interfering in tho matier, Resolved that Mr King have instructions to sen the Waihoiue bridge as soon as possible.
Resolved that the following days be allowed to tho permanent roadmen as holidays, viz:—Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday and Queen's Birthday. Mr llayner be empoworeTtfgf t a drain cut, to prevent the overflow of water on Hughes' linn, Resolved that Messrs Dor«et, Raynor, the Chairman and the Clerk form a Committee to draw up by-laws touching the traffic on the roads, the same to be submitted to the County Council for their approval, Applications for the position of permanent roadman were received from Henry Harrison, Geo. Meihlosoi), Thos. Harland, John Roe, E. Smith, Win. Bambry, R. Burke, Win. VickorstiffaudH.T. Waite, Thos, Harland's application was accepted at Cs Cd per day, wet and dry, duties to commenco on tho first day of March next. It was resolved that the Wardens for No. 8 Ward be empowered to make arrangements for building a whare for tho roadman.
Resolved that tenders be called for about 18 chains of road formation and metalling on the Hinau Gully Bond. Resolved that Messrs Dorset, Deller and Morgan inspect the Maungaterero River, on the Belvedero Road, and report at tho next meeting the best means of protecting tho road whero the river is encroaching. Resolved that timber bo procured for planking a bridge on Belvedere Road and ono on Anderson's lino and also that tenders bo called for 8< chains of jnotalling on Waihakekej road. *
