MASTERTON TOWN LANDS TRUST.
Monthly Meeting. The regular monthly meeting of the •' ■ Masterton Town Lands Trustees was held last evening in' the Borough Council Chambers, there being present Messrs A. W. Ucnall (in the chair) and J. Graham, E. Feist, S. E. • Gapper, and H. E. Eton. MINUTES, The minutes of the last monthly meeting were read and confirmed. FINANCES. The Treasurer's,report showed a credit balance at date of £ls 9s 7d, CORRESPONDENCE, A letter was received from Mr A. R, Bunny with reference to tho repairs lo the buildings on pure town aero 71, stating that Mt%nny would wait on the Trtißt. ,"' i' scholarships, Mr Feist said with regard to Mr Waite's application for assistance for his son, who recently gained a scholarship, ho had made enquiries andfound cost of maintenance was LGO or L7O for a son or daughter, He thought that tbo Trust might grant LlO per annum for two years to Mr Waite. Owing to the absence of tho Chair- . man it was decided to discuss the question at the next meeting, NIGHT SOUOOL. Mr G-. Hirsch wrote statingthat he had opened a night school in tho Wesleyan Church Schoolroom and asking encouragement in tho shape of a subsidy in return for which the Trustees might nominate a number of deserving youths who might beunable to pay the fee, which was one guinea per quarter,
The Chairman thought the best way would bo to put tho mattor off until next meeting to make some enquiries, This course was adopted. A LF.GAIi POINT, Mr A. E. Bunny waited on the Trust with reference to a letter received from the Trust, calliug upon him to effect repairs to certain build' ings on Trust proporty lately held by him and tlio lease of which had now expired. Mr Bunny said that oertain buildings on the land were movable, and lie might remove them, his lease having expired. Ho thought it would, hovtover, be wise to wait on the meeting and see if the Trustees the buildiugs over, which .ramcment ho thought would be rSutu!% advantageous, < v After considerable discussion it was decided to defer the matter for a fortnight so that Mr Bunny could send in his claim in writing. It was also decided that the Chairman and Mr Rcnall take legal advice on Mr Bunny's position if they deem it necessary. KXPIIUNO LEASES. The Clerk said that while on tho matter ho should like the Trust to consider tho question of expiring leases, and what action should bo taken with regard to tho condition of buildings standing on Trust property. It would also be advisable to state in tho lease that buildings must be left on tho ground. Some desultory conversation took place, but no action was taken. It was deffidedto leavo the Secretary and Chairman to call the meeting at a convenient date. HRE BRIGADE SITE. On the motion of Mr Gapper tho question of the now Fire Brigade site was left over until the special meeting.
