WELLINGTON GAS COMPANY.

Wellington, Wednesday, At a meeting of the Wellington Gas Company held to-day, a dividend of twelve per cent was declared, The reports showed that although the prioo of gas had been reduced, and the rent of meters abolished, the receipts for the past year showed no falling off, The Chairman said the directors had under consideration the question of deducting from the interest payable in London on the loan, the amount of the Income Tax, viz £125. The directors had been advised that they could make such deduction, but he thought the wisest course was for the company to pay the debenturo holders in full, and Dot withhold the amount of the Income Tax.
