HAYES CIRCUS AT FEATHERSTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Hayes 1 Allied Circus performed in Featherston last night. Tho weather was beautiful, and all tho seats in tbc tent were full. Tho firat item was a wire wftlkine act by one of the Tankard was oxcoedipgly clewrT The broncho horses, " Ben" and " Demon," wero next, introduced. Tho manoeuvres of tliene anituals being splendid evidence of tho perfect training they had received. " Perry tho Devil" then amused the audience with his antics uprm a pair of stilts. The next performance was a riding act by Mr Hayes, who came into the ring dressed as a ll nmshor." Whilo on horseback he divested himself of his coat and trousers and dresHed himßelf up as a lady of fashion, Suddenly drawing off tho dress appeared as an acrobat, did some fancy riding and rodo out of the ring, Then followed a trapeze act by Mdme. Lyola, after which came a two horse act by Miss Clara Kelly. Tho Tunkurd Troupe, 0110 attractions of the circus, wonderful exhibitions of ladder balancing. The last item of the first part was an exhibition by six broncho horses, tlio animals doing almost everything but talk. This part was concluded by the liorsea waltzing soveral times round the ring. After an interval of a fow minutes Mdme Lyola appeared and further astonished the audience by the manner in which sho held a man in her teeth, and afterwards also supported tho weight of a boy. On a wire stretched acroßs the tent hangs ut 2irap. Lyola to: k the strap in liar tootrNmd descended with incredible swiftness into o net held bv two men. After this followed a double act by Mr and Miss Hayes on horseback, and an exhibition by Frank Lyon, tho' elastic man,' who went through some remarkable contortions, Miss Clara Kelly then performed on horseback while tho clown Perry sang a song entitled, 'Justice for New Zealand,' which was loudly applauded, This was followed by a contortion act by one of the Japanese, which was also applauded. The finalo ffas an exhibition by the broncho ponies, Billy and Dan, who went through several very clever performances, including the see-saw and other tricks. Many of those who attended the circus considered it the best they had ever seen.
