The emplojis in Mastoton fought a long and hard battle to gain the boon of early closing in Masterton, but even now their victory does not seem to be assured. An outsider comes into the town and expresses an. intention of Loping his Bhop open till a late hour. He is within his right in doing this, but we extreuiely regret that he has not sume regard I'or public opinion in this town, whioh is directly on the' side of early closing. We hope he will study the aspect of the ques> tion and reconsider the deoision at which he has apparently arrived. The now legislation, in favor of shop holidays, will, we fear, in the long run break down, and the beat friend employ6a in shops have is public opinion. We are very sorry to see that aa outsider is now challenging what we believe to be the all but unanimous wish of the public.
