Wood reports of tbo Stock Salo held by him at his Taratahi yards on Thursday as follows : Tho attendanco of buyers was good and bidding spirited throughout. Tho stock yarded was considerably in excess of that advertised, particularly in sheep and all sold readily undor tho hammer, prices showing a slight improvement on last sale, and ruling as under :-- Sheep.—Fat Ewes and wethers, 10s lid to lis 9d; 4 and 6-tooth ewes 10s Gd; Store Ewes, F.M. Gs 3d to 7s lOd ; Lambs in wool, 5s Id to 7s 9d; Lincoln rams, F.M, J to If guineas. Cattle,—Calves 2fis to 80s; dairy cows 70s to 100s; store cows, 37s to GOs. Mr Wood also reports a private sale of GOO 2-tooth owes at lis Gd.
The Egmont Farms' Union, Limited, Hawera, January 26,1898. We had a lair number of stock entered for our sale at Stratford on Friday the 13th inat., which considering the wet day it turned out to be was well attended so that most ot the oattle yarded were sold at or immediately after the sale. We quote 18 months to 2 year steers £8 Os Gd to L3l9s; 12 to 18 months mixed cattle £2 14s Cd to £2 17s Gd; springers, LI to L 5 2s Gd, Our fortnightly stock, sale at flnwera, was held on Wednesday, the 25th inst., though owing to tho severe weather prevailing the attend* ance was smaller than it otherwise would have been, Tho yards were well filled with cattle, most of which were sold before leaving the yards,
