Presentation to Mr Boagey,
A Booial Was held in tho Church last evening, at number were present, for th#|§jppsa of making a presentation to llri! J, Boagey, the leader of the olioir. 1 The Rev Mr Dukes ocoupied the chair, and iu an excellent speech, first referred.at some length to the sobeme now in handof making extensive alterations to tho ohurch. In making the presentation to Mr Boagey, the Boy gentleman said the congregation as a whole wore greatly indebted to their choir master, and they wished to express their appreciation of his valuable services in some manner, When the speaker arrived in Masteron as minister of tho Church, he found the choir without a leader, and it was at his request that Mr Boagey was appointed, since then the ohoii; had improved wonderfully, and to that Kentleman in conjunction with the valuable services rendered by Miss Williams, the organist) the Ohuroh was deeply indebted. Hot only wag the help of Mr Boagey gratuitously given but also in conducting the children's anniversary anthems, and church conoertß 'he deserved tho utmost oredit, He had muoh pleasure in presenting Mr Boagey with a substantial gift on behalf of the ohoic and congregation, in recognition of i his valuable services,
A handsome marble dock, both useful and ornamental, with the following words beautifully engraved on a silver plate was then hand Mr Boagey; Presented to Mr®l» J, Bongey by the olioir and congregation of the Wesleyan Ohurch, Masterton, on the occasion of his marriage, January 18,1898."
Mr Daniell, in a neat speech, also spoke in high praise of Mr Boagey, whohadworked hard to bring the ohoir to such a state of proficiency, and deserved the hearty appreciation of everyone conneoted'with the Church. Ho wished the wedded couple evory happiness, and hoped they would have the work as muoh at heart in the future as in the past. Mr Gillospio and Mr Burton addressed the meeting, and both testii fied to the undoubted ability of Mr Boagey in his capacity as choir-master, Mr Boagey, in responding, feelingly gave his heart-felt thanks to the, friends who had subscribed to tho valuable present, and hoped he would with the help of Mrs Boagty, givo moro time, and put forth fresh energy in the cause of the Ohurch. Ho con" sidered ho bad only done his duty m the past, and he folt highly pleased to hear such kind words expressed about him that ovening. His well-ohosen remarks wero received with applause by the congregation; During the evening Mr Smith, of Ekotahuna, delivered a powerful address, urging worshippers to put forth fresh energy in the cause of religion and temnerance,
The choir sang two beautiful anthems, under the conductorship of Mr Boagey, and a recitation by Miss Dukes and a reading by Mrs Dukes completed a very pleasant and inters eating social. \
