ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.
Ordinary Meeting,
The ordinary mooting of the abovo Board was held on Saturday last, January 14th inst. Present—Messrs H. Dunn (chairman), J. Boustead, T. H. Groves, and S. M. George. Tho minutes of the previoulnH ing were read and confirmed. |pß
CORRESPONDENCE was read from the Bank of N.Z., acknowledging tho receipt of f24 18b, and enclosing F.D.R,, for £137 Is 6d,
From the Colonial Secretary, announcing that tho special rates for the Pah and Mangaone Valley Roads were gazetted on December 23rd.
Mr Cecil Kebbell wrote, apologising for his absence fiom tho meeting and recommending tbat tho sum of £l2 4s be paid to Mr Girdwood, for work done on tho District Road,—lt was resolved to pay tho amount to Mr Girdwood. Mr A. C. Turner wroto re Tiraumea bridge plans, showing the alterations required.
The Clerk stated that the plans had been forwarded to tho County engk neer.
The Assistant Surveyor-General wroto, stating that he would re com* mend that 85s por chain bo given towards forming amp'nn of the road on the that the settlers •. to form the flame.
It was decided to inform the Assistant Surveyor-General that the settlers would take steps to raise the loan,
GENERAL. The Clerk's action in applying for the Pori Road Loan was approved, Mr \Vtn. Cross waited on the Board with referenco to his claim for compensation on tho Iliuraua Eoad,—The matter was held over until the next meeting of the Board, The balance of Mr John King's nccouut for engineering was passed for payment. It was decided to tako oyer Mr Woolfs contract and finish it at his expense, and use tho£s left by the. contractor ss security for jhe j)uujH Tho Chairman was" crcpowHf to expend LlO on repairs to the Tawataia Eoad within tho buna Road Distriot. Notice of motion was given by Mr Groves that a loan be raised to drain aid form Mouut Baker Road, TENDERS. Tenders were receiyed for the followinc; works on the Pori Road Contract No 1, Seventy chains of formation—P, Lyons & Co,, L 521105; M. Kelliher, L 584 12s 6d; Kennedy & Co L 390. Contract No 2. Road formation, 160 chains.—P. LyonsA Co L 1472 ;M. Kelliher L15221jM Kennedy and Co., £927 ; No, 3, road formation, 160 !H Kennedy and Co,, £800, ; No wjH
wero received for Contraot No. 4. The whole of the tenders wore declined, being considered too high, and it was decided to call for fresh tenders, payment sheet.
Accounts amounting to £B2 Ma 5d Wero passed for payment, and Mossrs Bouatead and T, H, Groves wero s 'B n cheques. jUifext meeting of the Board will bpold oil February 4th.
