Stevens, H;Braithwait|)fE,lß| Dorset, and Q. W. JDeller. -| ■ "^ The minutes of the previous irjg.were read and confirmed. The ' Treasurer reported the bank overdraft to be £486 6s6d.' A statement of liabilities of each Ward was read by the clerk. ■ Correspondence inwards was received from Mr J, Udy, applying to be allowed to lay'two trams across the road at Kokatau,—Permission granted on the usual terms. Mr Cooper applied to have his name iplaocd on the rate roll.—Granted. '•■■■ Mr Strang applied to hava some repairs done to the road near his property at Gladßtone.-Kesolved that tenders be called for the Bame, and that the engineer be requested to prepare plans and specifications, .for "the work, \ \ . J. Chesham wrote,.enclosing an offer fortbe right to ouLarass seed on the Maungaraki road,^ An application was received from Mr W. P. Alleu to kavo the slips i cleared on the road to. the Admiral run,—lt was resolved that the road ; man be instructed to do the work. It was resolved that Mr Knight be instructed to dismiss all the bonds under him, and that applications be invited for the position of permanent roadman to work in conjunction, with Mr Knight in.the Gladstone Ww^% A lengthy ls- : re.< ceived from the Chairman Mj. the Land Board re thirds and fourthsX It was resolved that the Chairman oall a meeting of the settlers interested in the thirds and fourths to decide the best method of spending the same.
Mr W. Booth waited on the Board, on behalf of some settlors in the Hinau Gully, in reforenco to a road to allow them iagress and egress during the winter months, and rather than that thoy should be put to the expense of raising a speoial loan he offered to pay his next year'B latea in adyanoe or to lent! the sum of £SO for the work to he done, It was resolved that the Warden for No, 6 Ward interview the settlers of the said Ward to ascertain whether they are prepared to assist in doing the work required, It was also resolved that a committee of Wardens for Nob, 2, 8 and 4 Wards inspect the locality iu company with Messrs Oates and Blatcbford to ascertain the best means for an outlet for Mr Gate's.
Tenders for road formation, etc, on the East Coast road were received. M, Kerrins' tender for two contracts •waß accepted at £606 7s 6d; for metalling Brooklyn road the lender of S- Miller at 21b per chain was accepted. Some accounts wore passed for payment and the meeting atju^hed
