They have 1 had spending monej, and although 'he; bave been somewhat afraid to launch out into extensive improved raenta, they have employed a reasonable amount of lahour snd the necessary consequence, a fairly brisk circulation of money in the community has occasioned a prosperity whioh has been most welcome.

There is said to be 'some slight check mthe rapid growth of Pahjatua just now, but this is pro* bably conducive to its future health, as even in fast growing towns an occasional interval of rest is advantageous.
