THE AH CHING ENQUIRY.
Wellington, Wednesday. At the Ah Ching Enquiry to-day, Mr Edwards tho attendant who had been dismissed-from the Asylum for plaoingthe strap round Ah Chinas neck, (while tho jacket was being put on) to prevent his biting, gave evidence that while the deceased was being plaoed in the, strait jacket one of the".attendants knelt on his obest, Otherwise he considered Ah Chingreceived every attention. Francis Uonnely who was an attendant at the asylum on the date of Ah. Ching's admission, but who has since retired of his own accord, flatly denied Edward's assertion 1 that any of the,attendants had knelt on deceased's cheat, and declared that the patient had reeeived fair treat* ment.
The enquiry has closed and a report is to be forwarded to the Government.
