GAS v. ELECTRICITY.

[By Telegraph.—Press Association.] Ohristohuboh, Tuesday. The Electric Lighting Company tendered to light the oityior £2,100 per annum for seven years, and £2OOO a year ior the next sevun years, and £1,900 a year for the following six years. The Gas Company offered to light the city for three years at £1,576 per year, or five years for £1,879 per year, and seven years for £1,182 per year. The Lighting Com* mittee recommended the acceptance of the Gas Company's lender, for either iivo or seven years. The matr tor has been deferred until a special meeting on Monday next.
