MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The, oidinary monthly meotmo of tho Maaterloii Road Board was lielu on Saturday last. Present—Messrs Holmes (in the chair), McKenzie, Harris and Wardell. OORHESPONDBNOE was received from MrT. C Williams, apnlying for permission to peruse Mr W Bell's opinion ro Weraiti Road. From 4lr A, W, Cave, asking tho Board to obtain a provisional approval to a loan of £IOO for forming a road through Okurupiii Block. From Mr J. H. Haigh, stating that ho had repaired one gate on the road through his properly. PETITION. A petition was also received from a number of residents on tho Upper Plain, re the formation and metalling of a road to Messrs Cade and Harrison's sawmill. RESOLUTIONS. Mr W. Wardell proposed and Mr MoKenzie seconded that t he proposals of tho Conference re adjustment of boundaries be approve!— Carried, In referenco to the petition re metalling a road to Messrs Cade and Harrison's mill, Messrs Hcssey and Jones attended in support of the petition. It wasresolved that the Boaid recommend tho petitioners to avail themselves of the Loans to Local Bodies Act, as the Board was not in position to undertako tho work out Tof the rates, and that the Engineer be requested to furnish the Board at its next meeting, with an estimate of tho cost of making the road possible for wheel traffic, to a distance of thirty chains from the Borough boundary, It was decided to send a circular to the D.P. and P.L, selectors asking them to send in tho notification re expenditure of thirds, which the Commissioner has forwarded for their signature. The Clerk was instructed to ask the Colonial Treasurer's approval of the • loan requested by Mr A. W. Cave. It was resolved that the Board does not see its way to grant Mr T, 0, Williams request re perusing Mr Bell's opinion, It was decided to instruct the roadman to report to the Ranger whenever stock are straying on the roads, ACCOUNTS, Accounts amounting to £6O 17a 8d were passed for payment. ENGINEER'S REI'ORT. £ The Engineer's report was received ®and the recommendations were '' adopted, It was resolved that a sum not exceeding JJIO beoxpended on repairs to the Fernridgc road, between the properties of Messrs McGregor and Sykes. The Engineer was requested to attend to necessary repairs on Mr McKay's road, up to the amount voted if necessary, The Engineer was requested to Bend the Overseer to examine the slips on Dorses road, and report atnoxt meeting tho probable cott toopou the road for wheel traffic. The meeting then adjourned.
