SUPREME COURT, WELLINGTON.
Gharge to the Grand Jury. (By Telegraph,-Press Association).
Wellington, Monday. Addressing the Grand Jury at the opening of the criminal sessions of the Supreme Court, tho Chief Justice referred at longth to the case in which Finlay and Seel aro charged with shooting Greenrose, pointing out tho circumstances under which the oharge might be reduced from one of murder to manslaughter. As to provocation, he said it would have to be accompanied by personal violence before soy justification could be raised for Ae use of firearms, Ho thought accused v had been properly charged as joint defenders, the evidence Bhowing that Seel had urged Finlay to fire on Greenrose. His Honor's remarks in reference to the Woodville abortion case were also of great length, and he gave an exhaustive review of the circumstances of the charge. The other cases on the list were of an ordinary character, and called for no mention. Wkllinoton, Monday.
