ALLEGED INFANTICIDE.

Gisbobne, Saturday, The family of a Spanish-Maori' half-caste named Christian, was arrested at Patutalii yesterday, Two young women, ajjed •22 and 20, : named Bella and Horiana Christian, are charged with the murder of the infant child of.one LenaOhristian, sister of the accused, who had given birth about 81st July, to an illegitimate child. Lena Christian and Charles Christian (father of the young woman) were arrested on the charge of being accessories to the murder, The police dug out of a hole the body of an infant, much decomposed. Accused were brought before Mr Booth, R.M., this morning. A brother of the accused girls gave evidence that on the 31afc July Lena ga»e birth to a child, and on the instructions'of his father he dug a hole, and Horiana placed the'body in it, Heaßßerted that, the child was Btill-born, The case was adjourned till Tuesday, The Coronor's inquest will be held to-day.-
