Alleged Burning of an Australian Mail.
The Statement not Confirmed. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wellington, Wednesday. The Secretary of the General Post Office states that he has received no information ro the alleged burning of an Australian mail at Nevada, The Department has cabled to the Agent General in reference to the mutter. ' Uneasiness in Auckland. Auckland, Wednesday. Much uneasiness is felt here »itk regard to the burning o( the Mariposa's mails, The mail was due at San Francisco on October 27th, and would be at Nevada on October 28th, the date on which it was stated tho mail had been burned.
