HIGHWAY ROBBERY AT PAHIATUA.
A Masked Man Waylays an Old Woman.

Pahuida, Tuesday. A oase of highway robbery is reported to have occurred here late last, night, It appears thatan old woman named Bacon, who keeps a shop and Registry Office, was on her way home, across the Mangatainoko river when she was stuck up by a masked man, 1 who was lying waiting in some scrub on the other Bide of the 'river. The robber took a small hand bag, which contained some £6, also a brooch and two rings. Uo further particulars are yet to hand. Constable Cooper was at once acquainted with the circumstances, and went to the place where the alleged, robbery took place,,
