The Montague-Turner English Opera Company.

To-night should be considered a " red-letter" one among Masterton music-lovers and theatre-goers, Legitimate English opera will be produced at the Theatre Koyal, and that won* deriully popular composition of lace'e, " Mariiann," will be here for the first time on record by a really first-class company of operatic artiats, at whose bead ard Miss Annis Montague and Mr Charles Turner, two of the most famous operatic singers and actors who have ever visited the colonies of Australia'and New Zealand. In proof of this statement we have already in these pages given quotations from leadingjournals in the big cities where the MontagueTurner Opera Company have recently appeared, and we will now only add a few lines from the Auckland •' Star" of May stb, about Miss Annis Mon» tague's impersonation of Lucrezia Borgia in the Opera House of that city: —"The vocalist who canßing " the ' Borgia' part better than Miss " Annis Montague sang it last even- " ing, haa not been heard outside of " the most famous Opera Houses of " Europe, and assuredly has not Bung "it in these colonies." It is certain, therefore, that to-night we shall hear a quality of vocalism we are entirely unaccustomed to in the Wairarapa. -%.
