FEATHERSTON TOWN BOARD.
' The usual monthly meeting of the Featheraton Town Board was held last nigbt, there being present, Messrs G. W. Reynolds, A. Donald, J. Beal, and W. Hoddor, junr. In tho absence of Mr W. Cundy, Mr Reynolds took the chair. The Treasurer's report showed a credit balance of £lls Is lid. Accounts were passed for paymont amounting to £44 6s 4d, It was reaolvod that Mr Crawford, and Mr Worseley, the roadman, receive a full day's hire for their horses, Correspondence inwards was received: From the Chairman of the Half-Holiday Committee of Carterton, enclosing a copy of a resolution re the half-holiday, requesting that the resolution bo made known. As the halfholiday has already been t obosen and published in Featheraton it was not considered necessary to take any steps in the matter.

Hodtlcr that the Works Committee visit the above mentioned placo and seo what is required. Mr W. Hodder reported that ke< found the pound-keeper's book correct, and handed in a balance of three shillings, The collector reported rates collected to tho amount of £6B 7s sd, A BREEZE,
Mr Beal complained in very Btrong' terms of tho unsatisfactory work dona by the roadman. Mr Reynolds explained that he (Mr Koynolds) w to blaino, as overything was dono by his orders, Mr Beal made uncomplimentary remarks on Mr Reynold's instructions, whereupon Mr Keynolds got up and asked Mr Beal to take tho chair as he seemed to know most about the matter. This Mr Beal, however, declined to do. Mr Donald said that such conduct on the part of the members was- perfectly disgraceful, and ho asked Mr Reynolds to tako the chair, that they might finish the business. Mr Reynolds, however, was obdurate and expressing his opinion that Mr Beal attended only to find fault, he retired to the Committee-room to solace himself with his pipe. On the motion of Mr Hodder Mr Donald was voted to tho chair. Business being resumed the tenders, were considered. Mr P. N. Boband's tender for road formation in Brandon street was accepted. Mr Beal asked why tenders had not been called for formation in Wood, ward street. It was explained to Mr Beal that it was deoided to let it stand over till the Board saw how the funds stood.
_ Mr Reynolds said thoy were waiting for Mr Beal to measure off the distance required to be formed. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Beal that steps should be taken with regard to the growth of gorse on some of the streets. ■ It was resolved on tlio motion of Mr Hodder that Mr J, Robertson inspect the cottage adjoining the Board's office as it waa in a very bad state of repair. It was resolved on tho motion of Mr Beal that tenders be called by next meeting for the lease of the reserves. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Beal that the resignation of Mr F. 0. Smith as Inspector of Nuisanoes bo accepted and that Mr J. Abbot be appointed in his place at a salary of £5 por year. ' ' ' I Notice of motion from Mr'Beale for next meeting was given, " That applications be called for a man to do the Board's road work, stating wages per day." The.qjeetiog tbwi terminated,
