All nominations, entries, and acceptances (to be made, in writing, addressed to the Secretary at tho Observer Office, Carterton), will bo received up to tho arrival of the late train from Wellington on the date of closing. No nominations or acceptances will bo received unloss accompanied by the necessary fee. In all nominations for handicaps tho name, age, pedigreo, color, sex and pre« vioua performances of the horso, name of owner, and colour of rider mußt be tjiven. All horses to be ridden in distinguishing colors, Any protest must be lodged with the Secretary in writing within ten miuuto'i after the raco to which it refers has been run, and must be accompanied by two sovs, which will be roturnod only if the protest is sustained, Horses walking over will receive 50 par cent of the stakes. All persons intending to withdraw horses are requested to give notice in writing to the Secretary half an hour before the official time of starting such raco, Any person neglecting or refusing to comply with this rule shall pay a fine to be imposed by the Stewards, not exceeding L 5.
