GREYTOWN PROHIBITION LEAGUE.

Monthly Meeting, Tho monthly meeting of the abovo [,eas|Uo was held in the Foresiers' Hall lust evening, at which thore was a good attendance, iuoluding a number of ladies, Mr Geo, Wyott occupying tho chair, Several now mombers were eleoted. A reply was road from Mr Taylor, of Ohristchuroh, business manager of tho Prohibitionist paper, as to bow this League is supplied with 100 free copit s of the paper, It stated that the free copies were only supplied till iho end of the current year, to start a circulation. It was resolved to subscribe £1 this year towards defraying the expenses of priming the paper. Several members present gaye in their names as regular subscribers. A roply was received from Mr W. 0, Nation, proprietor of tho Wairarapa Standard slating that the League would bo welcome to a prohibition column in his paper but that tlio opposite parly would have the same privilege. Messrs E. C. Black and T. J. Rowse were appointed to supply clippings, etc,, for the column, and a Revision Committee viz.,: The President (Mr 6. Wyett), Secretary, MrT, J, Howse, and Mr J, Hillier (VicePresident) to peruse all written correspondence before publication.

On the motion of Mr T. J. Bowse the following resolution was passed; -(1) This meeting rejrets that tho Women's Franchise Bill, ombodied in the Electoral Bill, did not become law during tho last session of Parliament, and urges that tho Bill be brought forward and passed early next session so that it will come into force before tho next general election, 2, That a copy of tho abovo bo sent to the Premier and to the member for South Wairarapa," The Secretary was instructed to communicate with Mr 0, A. Fairbrother, as to torms for securing Mr Tennyson Smith's services for a series of public lectures, to bo held in Greylown at an early dateAll arrangements for the same were left in the Secretary's hands. This being all the business the meeting adjourned until tho 28th inst. •
