GREYTOWN.-FHIDAY. (Before Dr. W. lley, J.P.) James Martin wasoharged with being drunk. Fined £1 and costs. The local constable, J as, Eccleton, charged himself with allowing his chimney to take lire. In mitigation be proved that it was nob through any negligence on Ilia own part, as he had a contract with a chimney sweep to keep it olean, The case was dismissed, FKATHERSTON.—MONDAY. (Before Gol, Roberto, K.M.) TOWN BOARD BY-LAWS. J. Crawford was charged on the information of J, Abbot, the Town Board Hanger, with allowing a cow to stray on a public street after 5 p.m. The ranger staled that he saw the cow at a distance of half a mile. On reaching the cow, which was in front of Crawford's IIOUBO, he asked Crawford for the customary line. Crawford objected on the ground that his boy was bringing it home from a paddock. In the meantime the boy came up and Abbot told lum to move the cow along, Abbot then went to lay an information, Constablo Smith deposed that the cow had been on the street unattended for a abort time. Mr Acheson, who appeared for the defendant, held that no conviction could be brought under that se'otion of the by-laws under which the information waslaid. The boy William Crawford Btated that the cow got out of the yard while his brother was attending to a horse, and he west after it immediately, and w«b told by Abbott to move it along a little faster. The case was dismissed. Thomaß Lowry appeared voluntarily for allowing a horse to bo tethered on a public road, and was bned Is. CIVIL OASES, A, Chisholm v. F. Bilton,—Claim £4 for goods supplied, No appearance of defendant. Judgment for plaintiff, with costs Gs.
