The report of the Borough Overseer stated that Ohio-street was completed. The water-tables in Boundary road had been taken out, baton tbo occasion of the last heavy rain the water flowed ovor the road. The Works Committee's report was adopted. The Finance Committee's report, recommending payment of accounts amounting to £23813s was adopted. QUEEN-STREET GUTTERS, The Works Committee recommended that the gutters be taken up and a wooden gutter about six inches deep be substituted, The cost would be about M). Or Heron said the estimate of 50s a chain was an outside estimate. It was intended to put in a plank at an angle, as the Committee thought asphalt not strong onough. Cr Dixon objeoted to replacing the gutters with wood. They had plenty of tar and good metal at hand. It would be more preferable and muoh nicer. If wood were used, the water would still get under the footpath; The danger of accidents was always great as the gutters were at present. The Mayor said he was doubtful if the gutters belonged to them, Cr Porry said possibly the street did not belong to them. Tho present gutters allowed the water to filter through and let the path down. He would prefer to see asphalt used. Cr Feist said he would have preferred an estimate of tho cost of concrete gutters, It was vory lasting and serviceable, and seemed to answer well in Christchurob. He would pre< for to Bee tho matter left over a little longer and an estimate of the cost obtained.
