MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.

At the usual monthly meeting of the Masterton Eoad Board held on Saturday, Messrs W. Beetham, (Chairman), Wardell, Harris and McKenzio being present, the following business was transacted, in addition to that reported in our Saturday's issue, Weraite Eoad. The text of the Chairman's resolution regarding the Weraite road, seconded by Mr Wardell and carried, is" That the necessary steps be taken to Becure this road under the Publio Works Act, as Roon as the plans are approved by the Chief Surveyor." Finance Report. The Finance Committee's report was adopted, It showed a credit at the bank of & 1008 in the Loans to Loohl Bodies account, and a debit of £772 in tho General Account, or a net credit on the joint accounts of £lB9, after unpresentco cheques had been deducted. Accounts amounting to £137 wero recommended for payment. THE ENGINEER'S BEPORT. . Mr Dawson's tendor of £2Ol for contract No, 5, bridge, etc, over Kiriwhakapapa Creek, was accepted, it being the only one received, The Engineer reported that the result of the re-survey of Mr A. W. Cave's road indicated that the present fences were out of position, and that in one instance the line encroached to the centre oi the Eoad Reserve, Time had, however, not permitted of preparation of estimate's for draining, etc They would bo available for next meeting,—No action taken, Tho contractor for the Kaka-amu Valley Bridle Traok, contract No. 3, had been notified that be must complete bis work forthwith, or the Board would have to do it at his expense.

The Engineer was instructed to define the road through Morrison's land at Otabuao in connection with fencing proposed to be done, The Engineer's report was adopted. NOTICE OF MOTION, Mr Harris, with the permission of the.Board, substituted the following notion, for the ono under notice, viz,, "That the Engineer be requested to submit at each Board meeting, commencing at the November meeting, a Bobedutn. of proposed expenditure on the different lines of road, for the' approval of the Board, and that except in coses of urgent necessity, no expenditure be made withoutsticb approval," .
