MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Maui icoville Road Board was held on Saturday, tbeSltbiust, Present—Meair O, Forssberg (Chairman), J, F, Heck ler and H. W.Jackson,
The minutes of the previous meet ing woro read and confirmed, and cor rcipondence outward. A letter was received from M: Hoag, M.EI.R,, informing the Boan that any attempt to abolish or dimin ißh the Government subsidy to loca bodies would meet with his strenuou opposition.
It was decided at the request of a number of settlers to take steps to raise a loan of £IOOO under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,t0 bo expended informing and bridging Mount Bruce Road, and also a loan of £l2O to construct a bridgo over the Kopuaranga at Dorset's crossing. Mr Jackson was authorised to get some needful repairs done on Jackson's Road, and Mr Heckler to arrange for similar work on Baiter's Road, It was resolved that notice be served on settlers to removo furzo and broom from the roadside opposite their- respective properties. It was also decided to sue for all outstanding rates forthwith. Cheques amounting to £3919s Id wero passed for payment, Rates collected since last meeting amounted to £7 5s Bd,
