FEATHERSTON TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Featherslon Town Board was held on Monday night, there being present Messrs J. G. Cox (Chairman), W. Unndy, W. Buckeridge, 6. W, Reynolds and J. Donald.

Tbe minutes of tbe last meeting were read and confirmed.

Tbe Treasurer's statement wai read,

Correspondenceinwards.—From Mr O'Neale, requesting that a culvert ke put in near his house. From Air H. Urquhart, requesting that a kerbing be put on the path round bis house. From Mr W. A. Donald, applyiog for a long lease of the water reserve. From Mr D. C'adeubcad, requesting that the footpath in front of his Home be seen to.

| The constable reported that considering the state of the weather tbe back yards of tho bouses he had visited were kept clean. A private street used by Mr ]]', liurt as a timber yard was in a bad state and wanted cleansing. He also stated that under the existing by-laws ho could not bring a conviction agaiust any person for allowing theirchimueys to be on fire.

The Poundkeeper's report for tbo month was read. After some discussion it was resolved that Mr Urquhart's request bo granted, subject to the approval of the Works Committee.

Mr Viles requested that something bo done to prevent the end of Bethune street from being washed away ; and Mr MoMabon requested that a part of Woodward street fronting his property be metalled. These matters were left id the hands of the Works Committee.

Considerable discussion took place over a question put by a ratepaj er as to whether a ratepayer could vote it he had not paid his rates, ft was deluded to get legal advice on the subject. •

It was resolved that tenders bo called for the lease of the water reserves.

It was resolved that three street lamps be oreoted, one near the Bank of New Zealand, one near Mr Toogood's store, and one near Mr Burt's store.
