. Committee Meetings.
A meoting of tho Works and Pinance Committees of the Masterton Borough Council was held last (Monday) evening, there being present Crs Heron (Chairman), Gapper, Hessey and Mutrie, Tho Overseer reported having longtheiied tho culvert in Boundary road, but the weather had been too wd to tako out the watertublos. He lißd assisted Mr Eawson in laying oIF Albert-street. Short-street nnd Queeustretit had been repaired, tiighstreet required a coat of metal right through, but it was 100 late to do it this year. Tho footpath in Dixon-8t at the lack of the Church had been gravelled and crossings had been put in in Hall and Archer-streets. Ho had repaired tho new road in Renallatreet with broken metal, and rarious streets had been scraped and watertables attended to. Ho would recommend that ft culvert be put in in Johnston-street, the old culvert being unsafe for heavy traffic. It would take about 300 feet of timber to put in n double flood-gnle in Albert-street, and tho cost would be about i' 4 lO.s. Two or three moro days would bo required to complote the repairs on tho Upper Plain. Railway road would then be attended to,
The report was adopted, Accountsamounting to £20914s 2d were recommended for payment,
