Extra Bars in Wellington,

Wellington, Friday. In the Magistrate's Court to-day five publicans wore charged with a breach of the Licensing Act in having an extra, bar without the payment of lees, The Post Office Hotel was the first oase taken, The fact of a bar being attached to the billiard room upstairs was admitted. The Magistrate said he was not sitting to put an interpretation on the Licensing Act passed by the Legislature, and said that by no force of argument could the bar mentioned be taken usan extra bar within the meaning of the Act. He had no hesitation in dismissing the case. Three cases, on all fours with this,were withdrawn, A fifth is now proceeding.
