COLONIAL QUESTIONS.
I Interuiew with the new Secre tary for the Colonies.
(united press association.) London, August 22. Mr Munro had an interview with the Marquia of Bipon, the new Secretary of State for the Colonics, to-day, The Marquis said he desired to assure the oolonios that he was anxious to meet them in every way. Mr Munro discussed the new Caledonian question with him, and asked that the prohibition against British subjects a<y ing spirits and arms to the Islanders should be reminded, or that the other Powers shonld be called upon toaeree to similar restrictions. At the Secretary's request Mr Munro explained the Victorian views on Federation, and pointed out the difficulties that had been created by New South Wales. The Marquis told Mr Munro, that the Colonial Office was the only position he desired to take in the new Ministry. > The Victorian Agent-General intends to interview Sir W. V. Harcourt, Chancellor of the Exchequer, shortly, on the subject of the investment of trust funds in colonial stocks;
