Inspector's deport, The eleventh annual report of the Inspector of Prifons was laid on the table of the Houso yesterday afternoon, The Inspector remarks that on the occasions of his periodical visits to the various prisons he has found them kept clean and in good condition, every atteutiopf being paid to the Sanitary arrangements, and a high (tate of discipline maintained, while

At tbe commencement of tlie year 495 males mid 57 femaleß were confined in tbo prisons of tho Colony, and attlio close of the yegr 472 males and G2 females, In 1891, 8452 males and 845 females passed through the various prisons, as against 4062 males and 901 females during the preceding year, During tho past yoar the daily averuge of prisoners was 459'22 males and 58-89 ionmica,. a decroaso on tho provious year of 60*79 males and 9-81 females. Tho daily average of sick bud been G'97 males and 2*09 females. The average perching!) of prisoners according to population was 070, a decrease of ■OO6 as compaied with tbe year 1800. Tbe gross cost per head was Inst year .£52 2s Bd, as against £46 9s sd. The report further says that 72 persona came under tbo operation of the First Offenders Probation Act, as against 93 in tbe preceding year. Of theso 72, 30 satisfactorily, carried out the conditions of their licenses, and were discharged, 3 were re-arrested and commuted to prison, and 1 absconded.
