CORONER'S INQUEST.
The Child Burning Oase.
. An inquiry into tho oircumstanccs attending the death of Cecil .Raymond, the five-year-old son of Mr Richard Hatch, was held in the Mas-* terton Courthouse yesterday before Mr Coroner Roberts and a jury of six, of whem Mr John Graham was chosen foreman.
Dr, Hosking, sworn, stated that be had been called upon by Mr Hatch about eight o'clock on Sunday morning and informed that his child had been severely burnt. Witness made inquiries and gave instructions for the treatment of the little one, He saw the child during the day and found that his instructions bad been carried out. The body of the child wasconßiderably burnt, but it was free from pain. It was Buffering from tho shook to the system usual in Buch cases. ■ On Monday morning bo visited the house again and found the child dead. The cause of death was shock to the' nervous system. The parents had done all that could be done under the circumstances, Richard Hatch related the circutnatanoej ot the case, as published in our columns yesterday. As soon as he had extinguished the flumes he poured a bottle of castor oil over the child's body. Ho went for the doctor about eight o'clock in toe morning, and got a prescription. Tho doctor arrived about fqiir in pho afternopn. Mary A, Hatch, wife of tho last witness, gave corroborative testimony, The jury, after a short retirement, returned the following verdict:— " Thedeceased, Raymond Cecil Hatch, came ' by his death accidentally, through shook to the system caused by burns."
