Ddnedin, August 18. At a meeting of the cheese and butter makers, held yesterday, about forty being present, papers were read ,by Messrs Sawers and Newman Anderson, the newly appointed butter expert, Eesolutions were carried that the Government be urged to secure for one or more years the services of a leading expert from Great Britain to lecture and instruct in the cheese and butter making industry; that it would be desirable for the Government to establish a model factory, where the people would be taught by competent obeese and butter makers, suoh factories to be self-supporting ; that certificates be granted according to the amount of skill acquired; an d that it is of very little use to attempt grading dairy produce at the different ports, but that produce should be inspected and reported on by competent judges at ut New Zealand dairy produce depot in London, The Dairy Industry Bill was considered and some amendments suggested, the general opinion being that several of the clauses were too stringent and left too much power in the hands of tho inspector,
