TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday. Present—Messrs H. R. Bunny (Chairman), Wm. Miller, B, W. Dorset, (J, W. Dellor, E. Mor« gan, J. Eayner, H, Braitliwaile and James Stevens.

The minutes of the previous meeting, together with those of a speoial meeting, were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported the Bank overdraft to be £746 4s 4d. The Chairman moved and Mr Miller seconded, that a general rate of £d in the £ belevied on all rateable property, and also thnt a separate rate of \& in the £ be levied in Wards Nos. 1 to 7 inclusive, such rate to bo paid in one sum by the 16th August, inst,, separate rate to be expended in repairs only.

Correspondence inwards—from the Minister of Lands re road to East Coast, asking for full information thereon, From Mr H. H. Jackson, stating that he hadbought the property from Hoisted in Waihakeke and asking that the ditch be cleaned out as the water overflowed his properly; on the motion of Mr Stevens, seconded by Mr Braithwaite, 'the matter was ordered to be attended to as soon as possible, From Mr Thompson, Government Surveyor, and from the Survey Department re roads in the district, The Clerk was instructed to give all information required. The Clerk reported that Mr Bremner had passed the contractor's work in the erection of the now bridge over the Euamahunga river atKokatau, and that Mr Dawson hud completed his work in a very satisfactory and workmanlike manner.

The Chairman explained that he bad arranged with the contractor in reference to the wheel guards over the new bridge, which action was approved of by the Board, Complaints wore made in reference to tho way in which P. Carr was performing his contract at Kokatau. After some discussion the matter was left in the hands of the Chairman.

Some accountß were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned,
