MEETING OF CREDITORS.
Estate of Hans Hansen,
A first meeting of creditors in the estate of Hans Hansen, bootmaker, of Eketahuna, was hold in : the Mas* terton Courthouse yesterday, there being three creditors present, The Deputy-Official Assignee (Mr W. B, Chennella) presided, The bankrupt was represented by Mr W. U. Beard.
'The Official Assignee slated (bat according to tho debtor's statement, the liabilities were £27010 a fid and the assets estimated to produce £2lO, leaving a deficiency of £3olos sd. Under examination the bankrupt stated: The statement filed contains a full Jiafc of my assets and liabilities. I have no assets other than-those mentioned. I have been in bnsineba in Eketahuna a little over three years. I attribute my bankruptcy to not being able to dispose ot my stock quick enough and getting my money. I had no capital when I started business, but obtained credit from merchants without asking for it. I had half-a. dozen summonses and a bailiff in under a distress warrant, which was the immediate cause of my filing. I have no creditors at Eketahuna, I filed my schedule about three years ago, hut did not get my discharge, never having applied for it. I offered the creditors who sued me 12s in the £ over three, six, nine and twelve months. 1 have nothing, and cannot make an offer to my creditors, I had some land in Masterton, bat gave it up at my last bankruptcy. By Mr.Ueard; My stock was lying as a sort of drug in the market, and I was pressed by my creditors. I have had a good deal of sickness in my family and have not lived extravagantly. I valued niyslook at £IBO. The Official Assignee stated that he hadreceivedan offer of £9O for the stock, half cash and the balanceat three months. He did not think the stock would realise more than this by selling by auction,
Mr Elliotte thouahl a higher tender than £9O could be obtained, Mr Beard suggested that the accepting of a tender be held over.
Mr Carpenter said he was prepared to give more than £9O for the stock. It was decided that none of the tenders received bo accepted, and thai the Official Assignee be instructed to deal with the matter an he-shall think fit, accepting the highest offer obtainable,
Mr Elliotte asked what was to be done with the book debts.
Tha Official Assignee said., he thought some arrangements could be made with the bankrupt to colic st the accounts.' <
The matter was left with thi Assignee,
It was revived that the bankrapl be allowed to retain his tools and machine as well as his furniture. The proceedings then terminated,
