TYPOGRAPHICAL TESTIMONY, THE EDITORS FOR ONOE AGREE. (New Zealand Times, May H,1892.) The British Medical Journal is very angry with Lord Onslow. The particular cauao of the Journal's wrath is that our late Oovomor has absolutely dared to testify to the value of remedies whose composition is not detailed m the British Pharmacopoeia. The wrath is expressed as follows:—"Wo see with rearer. Lord Onslow shamelessly puffing quack secret remedies by an advertised letter—as scandalous an abuso of political position and as discreditable a lolly as has been for a long time brought under notice." Poor Lord Onslow I Tho dyspeptic diatribe above quoted owes its existence, no doubt, tn the fact that Loid Onslow, having found virtue in sumo of the Maori herbal remedies prepared by Mother Aubert, actually had the courage to say bo in print. Why the British Medical Journal should deem such testimony a high offence, and, judging by the strength of the language it uses, an almost criminal misdomeanour, 1 totally fail to see, saro that tho average medical mind ia fanatically opposed to any medical innovation which does not proceed from recognised red-taped

'Twas ever thus with the medicos, Almost every new advance made in medical science has been bitterly attacked as "quaokery" when it appeared, every new thinker denounced as a madman or worse, and every formula not ballmarked by the" Lancet" and " British Medical Journal" as a dangerous innovation. Personally, while not having the pleasure of a personal acquaintance with eithor Mother Aubert or Mr Kempthorne, I can sympathise with them and Lord Onslow in aeeine the Maori fiemidies denounced as "quack remedies," Only one of those same " quack remedies " do I know, and that -'Karana" to wit, which as a " real good thing" for a man with a liver, I would cordially recommend to the editor of the B.M.J, fie appears to need it sadly, for the common and domestioand "recognised" podophyllin has evidently been of no service to him, otherwise he would never have penned so spiteful a paragraph. As however, tho "Maori Remedies"— •'quack and secret "though they be—are reported to be selling like tho proverbial "hot cakes," neither Mother Aubert nor Mr Kompthorno is likely to worry about the wrath of tho ' British Medical Journal." As for Lord Onslow ho is at Home, andean fight his own battle.—" soiutator," in the ' New Zea land Mail.' Weekly Herald, Arait, 30,1892, A southern paper 8ayB:—" What with Marupa, Karana, Paramo, Natanata and cold weather, typhoid lever has been driven from the city of Wellington, and the place is now as healthy as any town in New Zealand. No small share of the credit is due to the Bcv Mother Mary Joseph Aubert for the production of hor unrivalled remedies," And as far as we are personally concerned we must say that, when any one of our staff is affected, no matter from what cause, evoh from alcoholic poisoning, we pour into him a bottle of Marupa, when restoration to a normal condition takes place at once, Reeftok Goaudian, Aran, 14,1892. Wo would ask our readers to mvo their attention to the change In the advertisement of Mother Mary Joseph Aubert's Medicines, which will be found on our fourth page to-day, These Medicines are fast gaining iu public esteem, and the excellent testimonials received, including one from Bishop Grimes, as to their curative properties, and which are published, should bean ample guarantee of their efficacy.
