(PRESS ASSOCIATION,) CimiSTonußCH, August 3. To-day Mr Jusiico Denniston refused without costs an application for l writ of certiorari, quashing the decision of tho Waimate Licensing Committee renewing the license of the Empire Hotel, Tho ground of the application was that (he licensee hud not complied "with the Act by affixing a notice uf his application to the door, Mr Justice Denniston held that it was in the Committee's power to have granted an adjournment to allow the licensee (whohad received no notice of the objection) to rectify the omission, It would be unfair to quash his license now tho rectification has be» come impossible,
