.London, August 2. Mr Gladstone is better, but will require oare for some time. He baa issued a whip to his Party for the opening of Parliament on Thursday, V though it is understood that the uomi. r nation of the Eicht Hon. Wellesley Peel as Speaker of the House of Com-: mons will not be opposed. The return of Mr Balfour for the East Division of Manchester will be petitioned against, on the grounds of illegal practices. The division on the want-of-con-fidence motion is'expected to take place on 11th August.
