WHAT THE PKESS BAYS, TYPOGRAPHICAL TESTIMONY, 'THE EDITORS FOKONCE AGREE, (New Zealoiul Times, May U h 1502.) Tho Britisli Medical Journal ia very angry with Lord Onslow. The particular cause of the Journal's wrath is that our late Governor haa absolutely dared to testify to the value of remedies whose composition is not detailed ia tho British Pliai macopceia. Tho wrath is espressed as follows:—"Wo see with regret Lord Onslow sbamelcEaiy pulling quack secret remedies by an advertised letter-as scandalous an abuse of political position and as discreditable a folly as has boen for a long time brought under notice." Poor Lord Onslow I Tho dyspeptic diatribe above quoted owes its existence, no doubt, to the fact that Lord Onslow, having found virtue in some of the Maori herbal romouies prepared by Mother Aubert, actually had the courage, to say so in print. Why the British Medical Journal sboulddcom such testimony a high offence, and, judging by the st-ength of the language it uses, an almost criminal misdemeanour, I totally fail to see, savo that tho average medical mind is fanatically opposed to any medical innovation which does not pruceed from recognised rod-taped sources, "fwas ever thus with the medicos. Al. most every new advanco made in medical science ha& been bitterly attacked as "riuaekory" when it, appeared, every new thinker denounced as a madman or wo: so, and evory formula not hallmarked by the " Lancet" and " British Medical Journal" as a dangerous innovation. Personally, while not having tho pleasure of a personal acquaintance with either Mothor Aubert or Mr Kcmpthovne, I can sympathise with them and Loid Onslow in Beeing the Maori Reroidie« denounced as "quack remedies." Only one of those same '' quack remedies " do I know,' and that ■'Kanma" to wit, winch as a " real good thing" for a man with a liver, I would cordially recommend to tho editor of the B.MJ, Ho appears to need it sadly, for the common and domestic and "recognised" potlophyllin has evidently been of no sen ico to him, otherwise ho would nevor havo penned so spiteful a paragraph. As however, the " Maori Remedies " ■' quack and secret " though they be—aro reported to be selling like tho proverbial "hot cakes," neither Mother Aubert nor Mr Kempthor'no is likely to worry about tho wrath of the' British Medical Journal," As for Lord Onslow ho is at Home, and can fight his own batl'e.—" Scrutator," in the' New Zea land Mail.' Weekly Herald, Aran 30,1892. A southern paper says;-" What with Marupa, Karana, Paramo, Natanata and cold weather, typhoid lever has been driven from tho city of Wellington, and the place is now as healthy as any town in Sew Zealand. No small share of the credit is duo to the Rev Mothor Mary. Joseph Aubert for the production of her unrivalled remedies.' 1 And as far as we aro personally concerned we must say that, when any one of our staff is affected, iw matter from what cause, ovon from alcoholic poisoning, we pour into him a bottle of Marupa, when restoration to a normal condition takes place atonce. Reefiox Goahdun, Amu, 14,1E92. We would ask our readers to give their attention to the change m the advertisement of Mother Mary Joseph Aubert's Medicines, which will bo found on our fourth page to-day, Theso Medicines are fast gaining in public osteom, and the excellent testimonials received, including one from Bishop Grimes, as to tlioir curativo properties, and which are published, should be an ample guarantee of their efficacy. The public should carefully peruse the advertisement. These sterling remedies are.sold by by Mr T. G. Mason, Mastorton
