LAND BOARD.
The Board met yesterday, there being present—Messrs J. H. Baker (Commissioner), W, A. Fitzherbert; W; W. McUardle, T. W, Fisher, and A.W.Hogg.M.H.R. The Commissioner submitted the Chief Justice's opinion bb to the. improvements required to be effected before selectors who do not reside can obtain their titles, and it was resolved to act upon it.
MrS, V, Burrtdge waited on the Board, and asked to be allowed to tell one chain width of bush on a section in block 1, Puketoi, held by Mr Megrath, and have the cost weighted on the land, It was resolved to grant the request, subject to the oonsent of the Government. .
The transfer of section 5, blosk 6, Mangaone, from Mrs A. Fogden to Mr F. Bright was approved. The Surveyor-General wrote, stating that the Hon Minister of Lands had approved of the amendment of the Tutaekara Village Homestead Settlement regulations, to enable one person to select four sections.
T. Patterson asked permission to register a mortgage on section 8, block 0, Mangahao, but the Board decided that it had nothing to do with mortgages, as they take place in the Land Transfer office,

Messrß Brandon, Hislop and Brandon, on behalf of Kebbcll's trustees, tendered a sum of Jils for their right to graze over Crown lands, Rimutaka Kange, for one year, on condition that tho rabbits aro kept down. The tender was accepted. The Surveyor-General wrote, stating that as the reserve near the Ngawapurua bridge was a State Forest reserve, there was no power to lease it for grazing purposes. It was resolved not to leasn, for the present, a reserve in the township of Alfredton, applied for by 0. Kafske. It was decided to offer seotions 211 and 212, block 2, Kopuarango, for sale as land of special value, at the upset price of 25s per acre. J. Duncan applied lor compensation for loss incurred by him through tho Mangaraniarama Creek overflow works, and it was resolved to refer the papers to Ranger Tone, to report on the whole circumstances of the case,
