The Sydenham Licensing Appeal Case.
The following telegram was reoeived yesterday froci the Chairman ot the Sydenham Licensing Committee by the Premier: " Hon J.-Ballanoe; Wellington—■"ifl Sydenham Licensing Committee notice by nowspaper teljlwms that a licensed victuallers deputation stated that the Committee did not intend appealing, but would proseoute licensees. Both statements ore utterly ■untrue; I am surprised Mr Uowlishaw allowed them to jbo mado, We applied to the Court for leave to appeal at once. We notified tho public through newspapers, and instructed our solid* tors, lhey have told tho opposition solicitors, and I personally told Mr Uwluhaw s partner we should appeal, On the 20th the Committee forwarded a joint letter to the Governor, notifying its intention, wliioli please see; and we do not lie'; suoh taotics are .contemptible.
