Christohurch, July 21, It jb stated that application is to be made to remove the Prohibitionist members of the Sydenham Licensing Committee on the ground of bits. The Prohibitionist party has drawn up a petition for signature, asking tho Governor not to remove them, on the ground that the petitioners have confidence in their intelligence and integrity, and that they were elected by an overwhelming majority as the result of the keenest and most clearly defined contest in connection with licensing matters that has ever taken place in the Colony, A meeting of the Sydenham Prohibition League, attended by about 200 persons, took placo to-night, and decided to canvass Sydenham for signatures of adult residents, male and female. It was stated at tho meeting that the Prohibitionists will make renewed and determined eifons to secure amendment in tbe legislation) sons to provido for direct veto, If was predicted that such an amendmant would be obtained in twelve months,
