FEATHERSTON NOTES.
(From OurOm Compmdcnt,)^
Feathehston, Thursday.' The tribe of Gypsies, who Lave been prowling about Greytown, performed before a good house in the' Oddfellows' Hall last night, The first part of the performance was a farce entitled " The Two Thompsons," Mr John Thompson (Mr Wyati), who is an author, is greatly inconvenienced and : disturbed by receiving letters and calls' intended for Mr John Thompson, his > next door neighbour. Mr Thompson > No.-1 then favours the audience .totlv; a fev letters, which' ho declares are' for himaelf or for his neighbour as he thinks fit. He also receives ; callers,s who have called oil him by inietake. The farce is ended by Mr Thompson going out for a policeman to turn out,the last of these obnoxious callers, I After an interval the Etfoampmetit commenced, Tho- sm'allness ojf the stage marred the effect, as all . the. scenery of the piece consisted' of the conventional three«legged' pot hanging from a tripod. TW gypsies were certainly picturesque but the, pictureaqueness differed cm? siderably from that of the real Romany lads and lasses. The end of the affair is a death scene 1 which so affected a half drunken jaan in a back seat that ' ho wanted to go home, but in trying to find the door ran into the arms of' the local policeman who escorted him into the street. The departure of policeman wasihe sigpal.for i iort of "Bedlam let :loo8e!' in the gallery, The death resolved itself into an illuminated ' tableau, which was Very, effective. The object of tie enter-' tainment is worthy of all praise and the promoters are to be greatly com- - mended, and also those who so ably .assisted by tbeir acting and eioging. ■'
