"Ministers Paying Tolls."
[to the editor waibakapa daily TIMES.] .
Sib,—ln your issue of Friday last, it is stated " that I have written !o the Wairnrapa North County Council asking if Ministers in t'lf | erformance of their professional duties nre not exempted Irom paying tolls." I have done nothing of the kind; I simply asked tlio Council whether Wiskyan Ministers riding or driving to place# printed on their Circuit Plans, for the purpose ol conducting Divine Servico, are not exempt from payment of tolls in New Zealand, as in 'England, The reason why they aw exempt at Home, while Ministers of other Churches pay, is obvious: in the discharge of tlidr duties they travel extensively, whilo other Ministers work in oue given parish. Before the last mect- / ing of the Council Mr Moore kindly mo with a list of those exempted, from which I saw clearly that Wesleyan Ministers wero not among them. lain, etc., John Dukes.
