Three Villages Ouewhelmed. Terrible Loss of Life, ■■ Berne, July 12. . One hundred and fifty persons wero overwhelmed by floods and a landslip at St Gervais, in Switzerland. The catastrophe! at' St Gervais was caused hy glacier ice falling in aud diverting a mountain torrent. The accident happened at 2 o'olock in the morning, and was so sudden that half the village was demolished. , ; Two other villages were submerged, and 75 tourists killed, July 13, A portion of the Bionnay glacier fell, and 'diverted ike, flood waters, which destroyed the StjGervais bathhouses, which wore fall of sleeping tourists.
