HIGHWAY ROBBERY.
A Toll-gate Keeper Stuck Up, (Press Association,) New Plymouth, July 2. A highway robbery occurred last night at Omata, tbreo miles from New Plymouth, Tho toll-gate keeper was stuck up, and £5 in silver taken. Tho highwayman was dreSßed in un » officer's scarlet tunic, and carried a H sword and revolver. Ho went into the toll-gate houso at 8 p.m., and presenting a revolver within 18 inches ■ of tho toll-gate keeper's head demanded money. The toll-gale keeper had a revolver in his pocket, but ho was covered so closely that ho says ho had no opportunity to use it. The polico have no clue. It is considered to be tho work of a lanikin, who has stuck up persons now three tiuieß, and got off succr stilly on each occasion,
