Mr David Lewis, who died in 1885, < bequeathed a sum of £200,000, whiou was ultimately increased t0£850,000, • to Messrs G. J.Cohen, of Sydney, and ( B W. Coy, to uae for the benefit of., the working classes in Liverpool and. Manchester. Mr Coy, with the approval of Mr Oohen, lies' requested dirW.H. Houldswortb, M,P, for, Manchester, and Mr A. B; Forwood, M.P.-- for the Ormskirk Division of Lancashire, to act as trustees and administer the bequest.. These gentlemen have consented. Committees are being formed to devise a scheme ; for utilising the Lewis bequest, Probably Peabody bouses for the use of tbe working clpases will be built' with the money in the cities specified. The press warmly praise the care with whioh' the legatees have nursed the trust,
