The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court opened to-day before Bis Honor the Chief Justice, Joseph Eoberts was convicted of stealing a watch and money from Thomas Baddeley attheßailway Hotel, Danevirke, and was sentenced to two years. Ann Ericksen pleaded guilty to stealing articles from the Star Hotel, Napier, whero she was servant, His Honor consented, under the circumstances urged in mitigation 'by Mr Dinwiddie (the prisoner's counsel), to reloaso tho prisoner on hor own recognisances to come up for judgment when called upon, Hum Kurukuru, a Native, was sentenced to four months for horse stealing, Mecca Livingstone was acquitted on a charge of stealing £7los from Annie Wood' house at Danevirke. Teo Mereti, a Native, pleaded guilty to forging a cheque for £l, and was sentenced to two months'hard labour,
