A statement of the business transacted by the Government Life Insurants Department ol New Zealand for the year 18911 ms just reached us. From it we gather that 1,588 policies were issued during the year under the Whole Life and Term Assurances, assuring a sum of ibe annual premiums on which would amount to £10,764155. Including simple endowments, investments, annuities, etc, the total number of policies in force at the end of the year under tbsi department was 29,226, assuring £7,782,734.
